Each of the Seven Modules in this program contains experiments that demonstrate the ideas presented. Some of these experiments are alchemistic meditations and others are experimental demonstrations. A portfolio of alchemical mandalas and drawings plus meditation CDs are provided for the spiritual alchemy exercises. A Student Laboratory (with basic glassware, chemicals, metals, tools, and supplies) is provided for the practical demonstrations. View Course Syllabus.
- Each of the first six modules covers a separate aspect of alchemy and receives 8 full credits at Flamel College. Materials provided include proprietary texts not available elsewhere, charts and old alchemy prints, glassware, lab utensils, chemicals, and metals. Simple chemical experiments are part of the instruction and demonstrate universal alchemical principles. Original works of the alchemists are included in appendixes in each module.
- You do not have to possess any expertise in the Hermetic arts, meditation, or chemistry. There is a Reference Guide that contains an alchemy dictionary, a complete listing of ciphers and symbols, and charts of alchemical correspondences to assist your work.
- Free consultation with your certified instructor in included. Your instructor will be a Master Alchemist, who will be your guide to transformation on all three levels on which the alchemists sought perfection (the physical, the psychological, and the spiritual). Local instructors are available in many areas. Contact with your instructor is by mail or email; personal meetings or telephone contact will be arranged only at your request.
- Each module takes about 6-8 weeks to complete, and you must pass a written test to progress to the next module. However, there is no time limit for completion of modules - you progress at your own speed.
- Certificates are issued at each level of accomplishment in the program.
- Become a paid instructor in the Alchemy Home Study Program when you complete Module 7. You will earn up to $200 per student and be qualified to hold seminars and lectures on alchemy.
Description of the Course Modules
The
path on which you are about to embark is part of the world’s oldest spiritual
tradition, a way of living in accord with the basic pattern of the universe that
can result in magical transformations within
your own life. These teachings date back beyond our contemporary civilization
and are presented in their purest form, free from any organizational doctrine,
religious dogma, or personal ego that may have corrupted them over the years.
Similarly, on your part, you will have to give up habitual thinking patterns and
predetermined assumptions that are part of the culture in which you grew up.
You can get around that wall of social programming, if you learn to judge this
material (and everything else in your life, for that matter) by how well it
resonates with your own deepest intuition, that part of you that Egyptian
alchemists called “Intelligence of the Heart.” Unless you learn to combine logic
and feeling in this way, to become alive and develop a “mercurial”
consciousness, you will not be able to progress much in alchemy.
The first three modules in the home study program comprise what has been called the “Lesser Mysteries” of initiation, and you enter this discipline from the perspective of a Neophyte. These initiatory modules contain the basic doctrines and techniques to progress further in the Great Work. In order to make this preliminary material alchemically active in you, it is presented from two diametrically opposed viewpoints that the alchemists called Solar and Lunar consciousness.
In Module 1 (Alchemistic Philosophy), you study alchemical philosophy and see how it evolved from its roots in ancient Egypt right up to its modern rebirth in the principles of quantum physics. This hyper-history of alchemy is complimented by further readings on the philosophical basis of alchemy. The experiments in this module take place on the psychological and spiritual levels of your being and are extremely important to your success in this program. The goal is to develop the power of Alchemical Thinking, which takes place on multiple levels at once, and also ignite the Secret Fire of the alchemists within you. Without this Secret Fire of personal gnosis burning in you, you will have difficulty progressing in the final modules, since many of the later experiments and tests are directed towards this kind of direct knowledge. Module 2 (Practical Laboratory Alchemy) focuses exclusively on more conventional physical techniques and chemical experiments. You will become familiar with the secret ciphers and alphabets of the alchemists, as well as understand the deeper meaning of alchemical symbols. You will actually perform experiments that demonstrate all the basic truths revealed to you in Module One, including each of the Seven Steps of transformation. The overall goal behind the first two modules in the program is to use the tension created by these two opposite ways of looking at alchemy and fuse them into one holistic approach to the subject. With Module 3 (Spagyrics: Signatures and Healing), you learn to separate and recombine essences to prepare alchemically active substances, as you continue to refine and develop your techniques and intuition on all levels. Spagyrics is a way of separating and preserving the hidden qualities (signatures) of plants and minerals in elixirs, tinctures, and powders. The result are subtle yet powerful medicines free of the impurities normally associated with their gross material forms. By learning to make tinctures and elixirs and work only with essences, you will become healthier, mentally clearer, and spiritually stronger for the challenges of the Great Work ahead. After completing Module 4 (The Metals and Their Correspondences), you will know the archetypal nature of the metals and their hidden affect they have on every level of our lives. By actually working with the metals, the alchemist gains an intuitive understanding of their profound signatures. In that way, the archetypal or universal correspondences are much more easily grasped. These correspondences exist simultaneously on the physical, psychological, and spiritual levels of reality. By integrating the opposing forces in your own metallic temperament (or personality), you will gain entry to the “Greater Mysteries,” in which you become a true Initiate into the deeper truths of which so few of us are aware. Your initiation into the Greater Mysteries begins in Module 5 (Spiritual Alchemy and Perfection of the Soul), which attempts to bring all these principles alive within you so you can directly experience their validity. When practiced on the higher spiritual level, alchemy is a powerful force for the evolution of soul, which is the expression of the First Matter in us. By working in the inner laboratory of the mind, initiates learn alchemistic meditation and work with the Three Essentials to achieve transmutation. Your mystical training culminates, as you attempt to “ground” your newfound wisdom in the next module. Guided alchemical meditations are provided on CDs included with this module. View Contents Page. Module 6 (Using Alchemy in Everyday Life) focuses on the creation of your own personal Philosopher’s Stone, a guide and magical touchstone to transform all aspects of your life. Alchemy is the study of the forces of creation in the macrocosm of the universe. Once these principles are mastered, the individual (or microcosm) can utilize these same forces to transform and enhance his or her own life. You will discover that the health and wealth in your life are part of the "gold" of which the alchemists spoke. By this stage in the Work, you will begin to manifest the incorruptible state of consciousness and confidence that is the hallmark of the true Initiate. Module 7: Master Alchemist (Instructor Certification Program). If you wish to continue your training and have successfully completed the first six modules, you may enter Module 7, in which the secret of the First Matter and its transformation is the focus of instruction, and the adept will learn how to accumulate and manipulate this chaotic energy to attempt to change lead into gold on all levels on levels of the material, mental, and spiritual realms. As a true practicing Adept, you will be qualified to hold local alchemy seminars, classes, and personal consultations, as well as earn money grading and supporting local students taking home study courses. Students will be referred to you through the Alchemy Home Study Program, and you may also recruit new students from your area. (16 Credits)

Flamel College Certificates in Alchemy

Certificate
in Practical Alchemy will be awarded to students who complete
Modules 1- 4.

in Spiritual Alchemy will be awarded to students who complete
Modules 5 and 6.

Master Alchemist Instructor Certificate will be awarded to
students who have acquired the Diploma in Alchemy and successfully complete
Module 7 of the Alchemy Home Study Program.

Diploma in Alchemy
will be awarded to students who successfully complete the first six modules in
the Alchemy Home Study Program
and write a 1,500-word dissertation on an alchemy
topic of their choice. Acceptable dissertations are published in the
Alchemy Journal
and become part of the
Flamel
College Library. Candidates who are awarded the Diploma in Alchemy
are automatically accepted into the
Alchemy Guild.
